When remodeling or upgrading a home should you choose character or versatility? Both of my options have equal parts labor and cost, pros and cons. All I have to decide is one of a kind, interesting, character (in the middle of a cookie-cutter neighborhood) or adaptable, ordinary, plain vanilla versatility. Does it all just come down to personality?
Which one would you choose?

Character. It has to have your own personality in it to love it. That's my vote!!
Character! Whenever I choose plain vanilla generic, I always regret it and end up explaining to people "What I REALLY wanted to do was ____"
