Spring break

For spring break we drove down to Utah again. We wanted to see Brett and Monica's new baby Juliet and spend time with Jeff, Santa, Nicole and lidsan who just moved to Ogden from Texas.

We stayed at Katie and Scott's house so the cousins could play together. Communal parenting really works in my favor. I do the laundry and Katie doors all the cooking and dishes. Sweet deal, right?

Will says his favorite part was visiting with grandma and grandpa Schramm. We have root beer floats and play with her vintage little people set.

Both boys went on a delivery with Papa and had a great time working at the greenhouse making soil, picking orders, running the flat filling machine, the new transplant machine, labeling and eating cookies in the office.

Santa taught Katie and I how to make her fajitas, salsa and rice with beans. Key ingredient: fat and garlic. So delicious you might pass up Cafe Rio.

We listened to conference and attended Juliet's baby blessing. We also had family portraits taken and they turned out great. I can't wait to have them printed.

New piano

We bought a new piano. I was excited for it and happy to teach our kids music but I didn't realize how much I missed having a piano in my home. It seems to add depth or soul that I didn't know was missing.

All three kids have been taking lessons from a very talented teenager who lives down the street. She comes to our house for lessons, which means I can spend that you're and a half doing chores and cooking dinner instead of sitting in someone's parlor waiting for my kids to finish lessons.

Carter and Will are picking it up quickly. Carter loves to play when he knows guests will be arriving. I think he takes pride in playing and wants to give a concert but is too shy to perform outright.

Brianna is struggling a bit more, but considering she only just turned five I think we'll wait a bit longer until she can sit for a lesson without getting antsy.

Baseball

Will wanted to play baseball this spring. Sports look more attractive if you've watched your older brother play.  I asked Carter if he wanted to sign up too and he declined. At Will's first game Carter suddenly remembered that he did in fact enjoy playing baseball and begged me to find a team for him to play with. It was a learning experience for him. He had to stick with the choice that he made earlier.

Will did great and it was fun to see him play with a team. He enjoyed playing with his friends and having daddy as an assistant coach. We spent many an evening practicing in the back yard. Usually just me and Carter and Will, but sometimes Brianna and Charlie would join in too.
